Do Not Be Afraid (2011-2013)

Both humorous and deadly serious, this duet proposes that the dance performer's superpower is the ability to make their mind visible for an audience, in and through their body.

Choreographer Matthias Sperling is joined by performer/collaborator Rachel Krische in donning superhero lycra and delving boldy into the relationship between body and mind.

Created with support from Arts Council England, Pavilion Dance South West, Leeds Beckett University, Dance4, Laban Theatre, Nightingale Theatre and Greenwich Dance. With thanks to Matteo Fargion and Siobhan Davies for their artistic mentorship, and special thanks to Antonia Grove for performing the work when Rachel Krische was unable to perform due to injury.

Performances: Southbank Centre, Dance Umbrella Festival (London, UK); Greenwich Dance, British Dance Edition, excerpt (London, UK); Laban Theatre (London, UK); Lakeside Arts Centre, Nottdance Festival (Nottingham, UK); Riley Theatre (Leeds, UK); The Basement, Movement 12 (Brighton, UK); Déda (Derby, UK); Pavilion Dance South West, excerpt (Bournemouth, UK); Trestle Theatre (St. Albans, UK); Lincoln Drill Hall (Lincoln, UK); Attenborough Arts Centre (Leicester, UK); Tripspace (London, UK)
